As part of the Second Festival of World Literature to be held from September 4 to September 12 in the Europa Cinema, an exhibition of drawings, pastels, acrylics and collages by sixteen Croatian visual artists of varying generations will be put on in the Modern Gallery’s Josip Račić Studio. Artists featured are Grgur Akrap, Gordana Bakić, Tomislav Buntak, Željka Cupek, Sebastijan Dračić, Fedor Fischer, Danko Friščić, Martina Grlić, Ivana Jurić, Ivona Jurić, Lea Popinjač, Robert Šimrak, Milan Trenc, Mio Vesović, Nikola Vrljić and Josip Zanki. Their works in A3 size are inspired by the literary works of those taking part in the Festival, and there are also portraits of writers rendered in freely chosen techniques. The exhibition in the Josip Račić Studio will be opened on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 12 noon, announcing this year’s (second) Festival of World Literature in Zagreb, and constituting its first event.
The Festival of World Literature is organised by Fraktura, the publisher. Festival partners are Croatian RadioTelevision, the Europa Cinema, Libraries of the city of Zagreb and the Modern Gallery. The organisation of the festival has been supported with funding from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the city of Zagreb. Patron of the festival is the President of the Republic of Croatia, Ivo Josipović. The festival is also supported by Traduki, by the SCA Prosvjeta, the Spanish embassy, the Israeli embassy, the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb, the Goethe Institute of Zagreb, the French Institute, the Agency for Upbringing and Education and the Tourist Board of the city of Zagreb.
