"Blue Horizons – Open Sea and Coastal Views in Croatian Fine Art from Plein Air Painting to Abstraction"
Masterpieces from the Collection of the National Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb
On July 31st, the Croatian Museum of Tourism in Opatija hosted the opening of the exhibition Blue Horizons – Open Sea and Coastal Views in Croatian Fine Art from Plein Air Painting to Abstraction / Masterpieces from the Collection of the National Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb.
The exhibition was introduced with a welcoming speech by Nataša Ivančević PhD, Director of the Croatian Museum of Tourism. The curatorial concept was presented by Dr. Tea Hatadi, curator and assistant director at the National Museum of Modern Art, and museum educator Lorena Šimić, who, together with Lada Sega, is also responsible for the exhibition’s visual design.
The exhibition was officially opened by Fernando Kirigin, Mayor of the City of Opatija.
Part of the NMMU on Tour series, the exhibition will be on view at the Croatian Museum of Tourism until September 7th. It features masterpieces by some of the most prominent Croatian artists of the 20th and 21st centuries from the collection of the National Museum of Modern Art. Featured artists include Ljubo Babić, Fran Baća, Vlaho Bukovac, Menci Clement Crnčić, Ivo Dulčić, Marta Ehrlich, Ignjat Job, Mila Kumbatović, Gustav Likan (Haueisen), Bane Milenković, Jerolim Miše, Omer Mujadžić, Edo Murtić, Dalibor Parać, Vilim Svečnjak, Slavko Šohaj, Đuro Tiljak, Emanuel Vidović, Zlatan Vrkljan, and Mladen Veža.
The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Opatija.
