On 23rd May at the Josip Račić Studio of the Modern Gallery, the monographic exhibition of the sculptural works of the doyen of sculpture, Ljubo de Karina, was opened.
At the opening ceremony, visitors were greeted by Biserka Rauter Plančić, Director of the Modern Gallery and author of the exhibition. The exhibition, closing on 9th June, showcases more than twenty works from the author’s sculptural oeuvre from his series of sculptures Prodori (Penetrations), Vertikale (Verticals), Reljefi (Reliefs), Obloženi oblici (Coated Forms; soft and organic or firm and inorganic), Macmalići (Masks), and wall objects and chamber plastics of a sacral symbolism. In addition to his Blue Vertical sculpture from the Modern Gallery’s holdings and several great works from the Biškupić Collection, the exhibition stages mostly works that the artist has and exhibits in his home in Brseč. The exhibition is accompanied by a richly illustrated catalogue, the foreword of which has been written by Biserka Rauter Plančić, published by the Modern Gallery. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr Veljko Mihalić, Head of the Department for Museum, Visual Art and Library Activities at the City Office for Culture of the City of Zagreb.
