Museum of Arts and Crafts’ exhibition “Zagreb and the Vienna Workshops (Wiener Werkstätte).
Two examples of complete interior designs” at the Josip Račić Gallery

On 2 June at 12:00 h, the “Josip Račić” Gallery will host the opening of the Museum of Arts and Crafts’ exhibition “Zagreb and the Vienna Workshops (Wiener Werkstätte). Two examples of complete interior designs”
It is an exhibition that the Museum of Arts and Crafts (MUO) is realising as part of the EU project ART NOUVEAU2 – Strengthening the cultural identity of the Danube region by building on common heritage of ART NOUVEAU, in which the MUO is participating as a partner. The exhibition will present, using traditional and new media, the original appearance of two buildings in Zagreb that were decorated, as total works of art, in the spirit of the Vienna Workshops and its aesthetics. They are, the Sanatorium in Klaićeva Street designed by Ignjat Fischer (today the Children’s Hospital) and Villa Ilić designed by Aladar Baranyai. Marina Bagarić, PhD, museum consultant and head of the Architecture Collection at the MUO is the author of the exhibition, while museum consultant Vesna Lovrić Plantić, PhD is the EU project manager.
The exhibition is part of the project’s common theme – The total work of art (Gesamtkunstwerk), as determined by the Vienna Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), one of the partners.
Studio Šesnić & Turković designed the visual identity and exhibition set-up. Media production by Studio Novena.
The exhibition will remain on view until 12 June 2022.
