Danko Friščić, Metagalactic 2 (and forget everything you’ve seen)

In parallel with the retrospective exhibition of Ivo Friščić at its main building, the National Museum of Modern Art at the Josip Račić Gallery organises exhibition of his son, the academic painter Danko Friščić. Under the title Metagalactic 2 (and forget everything you've seen), Danko Friščić presents a cycle of recent and "upgraded" square paintings in oil on canvas, executed between 2015 and 2022. The compositions further develop painter’s well-known fascination with trash culture and the genre of science fiction, so even though they are abstract, they remind us of scenes and visions of galactic expanses and phenomena.

Since 2006, he is lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, and currently he is associate professor at the Department of Painting and also holds the position of Vice-Dean for the International and Inter-University Cooperations.
