The National Museum of Modern Art begins its autumn season with two exhibitions presented at a press conference held on 5 September in the Vranyczany Palace in Zagreb, attended by the painter Danko Friščić. They are the exhibition of Ivo Friščić “Through the Eyes of a Chameleon” which will open to the public on 6 September at 19:00h at the NMMU and the exhibition of Danko Friščić “Metagalactic 2 (and Forget Everything You’ve Seen)”, the opening of which will be held on the same day at 21:00h at the Josip Račić Gallery. Art historians Branko Franceschi, NMMA director and Željko Marciuš, museum consultant and head of the Collection of Painting after 1945, spoke about Ivo Friščić and his work. This – almost retrospective in scope – exhibition of the artist is their second joint curatorial project.
Željko Marciuš said that Friščić’s paintings appear as if they were created by themselves, without it being so; they are a reflection of a frozen hybrid hyperrealistic reality, attractive, philosophical, metaphors that examine the deepest human actions…
Danko Friščić’s exhibition “Metagalactic 2 (and Forget Everything You’ve Seen)” at the Josip Račić Gallery was introduced by Branko Franceshi, author of the exhibition set-up. Danko Friščić presents a series of 13 monumental recent and “upgraded” abstract paintings executed between 2015 and 2022, largely in oil on square canvases of different formats.
