In 1966, Vinko Fišter graduated from the painting department of the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb. He worked as a painter, sculptor, graphic artist and designer. In 1972, he spent time studying in Paris. Since 1968, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad. He is the recipient of 15 national and international awards for painting, graphic art and sculpture. Combining biomorphic and geometric forms he created a series of thematic cycles in various materials and techniques.
Fišter explored ways to overcome spatial constraints within a two-dimensional square frame and achieved the geometric spatial poetics through permutations of painting, relief and object. In the painting-objects from the series Biobjects he creates a visual experience of space with a double image. The Biobject is composed of slanted squares, the purpose of which is to change the perspective in the relationship of black and green space with a central blue slanted square and red cube as a repetitive motif in the positive and negative of the object. In the Biobject with a Circular Core inside a white wooden frame, there is a transparent space with mirrored circles and the central painted green or yellow circle with applied squares. Through the dispersion of visual media in the introspection of spatial preoccupation, he examined the visual perception by combining geometry and colour within a square wooden frame.
