On Saturday, 21st September, at the Art Gallery of the Croatian Cultural Centre – King Tomislav Foundation in Čapljina, an exhibition featuring the most prominent works from the Sculpture Collection of the Modern Gallery in Zagreb was opened. For the occasion, Biserka Rauter Plančić, author of the exhibition concept and setup, selected twenty-six sculptural masterpieces by modern classics, such as Ivan Meštović, Robert Frangeš-Mihanović, Frano Kršinić, Branislav Dešković, Rudolf Valdec, Ruža Klein Meštrović from the permanent exhibition setup of the Modern Gallery. The said works were all created in a great period of Croatian modernism, that is, between the end of the 19th century and the early 1930s. In the foreword to the exhibition catalogue, Biserka Rauter Plančić wrote: “We’ve called the exhibition Rarissima, because – as far as our national museum is concerned – it truly does bring the highest-level sculptural rarities in both the historical and artistic contexts.”
